Statutory Liability for Defects

Statutory rights in respect of defects apply to all goods. For consumers, the standard limitation period for claims for defects in new goods is two years from the date of delivery. Any special statutory provisions remain unaffected.

If a product is defective, you may initially demand rectification. Depending on the statutory requirements, repair, replacement, a reduction in price, withdrawal from the contract or compensation may be considered.

If a defect becomes apparent within one year of delivery following the purchase of consumer goods, it is presumed by law that the goods were already defective at the time of delivery. You are therefore not required to prove the defect during this period.

How to report a defect

Please contact support-team@generator.eu or +49 89 20175987. Where possible, please state the order number, product, nature of the fault and when it occurred. Photos or videos may speed up the process, but are not a prerequisite for exercising your statutory rights.

Goods with digital elements

Power stations, battery storage systems, inverters and similar products contain software and are partly operated via an app. For such goods with digital elements, there is an additional statutory obligation to provide updates under Section 475b of the German Civil Code (BGB): During the period you can reasonably expect, given the nature and purpose of the product, you will be provided with the updates necessary to maintain conformity with the contract, including security updates. You will be informed of any available updates.

Updates are usually provided by the manufacturer via the device’s software or the associated app. Please install any updates provided within a reasonable period of time. We shall not be liable under the statutory conditions for any defect arising solely from the failure to install a provided update.

Manufacturer’s warranty

A warranty applies only if it is expressly stated on the product page or in the warranty terms and conditions. The warranty provider, duration, geographical scope, conditions and procedures are set out in the relevant warranty terms and conditions. A manufacturer’s warranty exists in addition to statutory liability for defects and does not limit this liability.

Business Customers

For traders, the obligation to inspect and give notice of defects under Section 377 of the German Commercial Code (HGB) applies. In all other respects, the statutory limitation periods apply to traders; we do not agree to any shortened limitation periods.
